Amanda Powers is a Houston-based graphic designer and visual artist who works in a variety of media to search and analyze systems within society and their impact on people and the natural world. Defined by her background in visual communication, Amanda’s work is influenced by symbols, images, and messages reinforced to the public by American consumerism. Amanda works primarily in paint, recycled plastic, concrete, found object, and digital media. Amanda received a BFA in Graphic Design from Sam Houston State University in 2012, studied fine art at Estudio Nómada in Barcelona, Spain and studied oil painting under Polly Liu at Art League Houston. Amanda currently works as Digital Resources Manager at Blaffer Art Museum, and co-organizer of Open MFA Artist Collective.
